An e-mail alias is another name assigned to a mailbox account. E-mail sent to the alias name will go to the mailbox account just as e-mail addressed with the mailbox name. This function is useful if you want to have several generic e-mail addresses go to one mailbox, such as webmaster@yourdomain.com or info@yourdomain.com. You can add aliases to a mailbox account by selecting an e-mail account from the control panel and then clicking on the "Mail Aliases" button under the mail name.

E-mail forwarding allows you to redirect e-mail with one address to another e-mail address. E-mail forwarding is useful if you want e-mail sent to your domain to be forwarded to another e-mail system, such as to a free web mail account. To set up a redirect, check the box next to "Redirect" and then enter the e-mail address where the received messages would be forwarded. If you have a particular e-mail address set up as a mailbox, you probably won't have redirect check. Likewise, a redirect e-mail account probably won't have "Mailbox" check, unless you want the same messages received at 2 locations.
